Intended use of COVID-19 Ab Rapid Test:
The TRUSTline COVID-19 Ab Rapid Test is a single-use lateral flow immunoassay rapid test intended for qualitative detection of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in human serum and plasma or whole blood containing EDTA, heparin or citrate anti-coagulants. The TRUSTline COVID-19 Ab Rapid Test is intended for use as an aid in identifying individuals with an adaptive immune response to SARS-CoV-2 infection. At this time, it is unknown for how long antibodies persist following infection and if the presence of antibodies confers protective immunity.
Results are for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. Antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 are generally detectable in blood several days after initial infection, although the duration of time that antibodies are present post-infection is not well characterized. Individuals may have a detectable virus present for several weeks following seroconversion.
TRUSTline COVID-19 Ab Rapid Test:
The COVID-19 Ab Rapid Test is a blood test that provides information about how your body reacted to infection with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which is responsible for causing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Purpose:
- The test detects antibodies produced by your immune system in response to a COVID-19 infection.
- It does not directly detect the virus itself but identifies whether you’ve made antibodies against it.
Procedure:
- The test is usually performed using a finger-stick capillary blood sample.
- Similar to a pregnancy test, it involves exposing the blood sample to a chemical reagent in a disposable device.
- Within minutes, the appearance of colored lines indicates the presence or absence of antibodies.
Types of Antibodies Detected:
- The test may find two types of antibodies related to the COVID-19 virus:
- Binding antibodies: These indicate whether you’ve made any antibodies in response to a COVID-19 infection.
Timing and Accuracy:
- Antibodies may be detectable after a few days to weeks following infection.
- The test’s accuracy depends on the timing of testing and individual immune responses.
Usefulness:
- A positive antibody test result can help identify people who may have had a prior SARS-CoV-2 infection.
- It does not diagnose current COVID-19; only diagnostic tests can do that.
